Ground and Training Rules

  • Dogs must be under effective control at all times. Handlers must ensure their dog does not interfere with other dogs, handlers, or training classes.

  • Dogs working off leash must demonstrate a reliable verbal recall.

  • Dogs must remain on leash unless approved by an instructor.

  • Uncontrolled barking, lunging, rushing, or interrupting other dogs or handlers is not permitted.

  • Dogs must be crated when not actively training.

  • The club reserves the right to require any dog to be muzzled.

  • Handlers must immediately pick up and dispose of all faeces in the appropriate receptacle.

  • Equipment must not be used unless directed by an instructor.

  • Suitable enclosed footwear must be worn at all times.

  • Bitches in season are not permitted on the grounds without prior written committee approval. They may attend casual drop-in classes only (not Foundations, Beginners, or Elementary), and written approval is still required.

  • Positive reinforcement training methods only. E-collars, prong collars, check chains, or similar devices are prohibited.

  • Harsh handling will not be tolerated. This includes yelling, intimidating behaviour, or speaking harshly to or about a dog.

  • Handlers must arrive before the scheduled start time to assist with equipment setup, unless approval has been provided by the instructor.

  • All handlers are required to assist with packing up equipment at the conclusion of training.

  • Members must assist with course changes and jump height adjustments when required.

  • Members must be ready when it is their turn. Delays may reduce training time.

  • Training is a cooperative activity. Members who do not contribute may have their training time reduced or forfeited.

  • Any dogs that have kennel cough are to be quarantined from all BAD activities for 21 days from onset of clinical signs. This quarantining is to include all dogs within the household/under the same roof. Please check with the Training Coordinator for other contagious diseases.

  • Handlers are responsible for the behaviour and safety of their dog(s).

  • Instructors and committee members are volunteers and must be treated with respect at all times.

  • Members must interact with others in a respectful and courteous manner.

Compliance

  • If a rule is breached, an instructor or committee member will advise the handler of the issue. An incident form will be completed by an instructor or committee member.

  • A written warning may be issued via email.

  • Continued or repeated breaches may result in:

    • a request to take a break from training,

    • restrictions on training participation,

    • suspension, or

    • termination of club membership.
